The Results
Over $12,000 was awarded across 13 winners spanning 6 colleges and 3 campuses. From acai protein bars to aeroponic farming, Northeastern founders kickstart their ideas with The Prototype Fund. We are excited to share this is the first time the Prototype Fund has had winners across all three of our undergraduate campuses: Boston, London, Oakland. Additionally, 85% of winners identify as being a part of a group typically underrepresented in entrepreneurship. This is representative of our commitment to intentionally create an inclusive and diverse entrepreneurial community.
About The Prototype Fund
We know that building a new product can seem daunting. That is why we want to help students take the first step. The Prototype Fund is designed to encourage Northeastern University undergraduate students to learn something new. Applicants can receive up to $1500 (two times per project) to help fund the costs associated with building the prototypes, samples, or mockups needed to get market feedback.
We aim for 40% of the Prototype Fund to be awarded to individuals who identify as underrepresented in entrepreneurship.
