The Ladyboss Podcast

Background: Family Business turned Podcast

Nina Christofilis (D’Amore-McKim School of Business, 2026) is an entrepreneur who began by helping in her mother’s small designer consignment shop in her hometown of Seattle, Washington. There, she developed the skills to foster interpersonal and professional relationships with her mother’s clients.

Christofilis seized every sales opportunity to learn more about clients, their fields of work, and how they got started in their careers. The (mainly) women who came in would often offer personal advice and share contact information to stay in touch. Christofilis was impressed by the generosity of these women to support other young women looking to grow in their careers. That is when she decided to build a network connecting and empowering future female leaders.

Venture Launch

Strongly determined to highlight the often unspoken successes of women in male-dominated industries, Christofilis started The Ladyboss Podcast where she interviews women in various business fields and professions collecting anecdotes, valuable advice, and words of wisdom to pass down to the next generation of barrier breakers. Through the episodes, listeners are exposed to the remarkably different stories of these successful women who discuss both their career choices and how they found (or built) a community to feel supported and heard. The path to success is different for every person she interviews, but all have proven to be equally impressive and impactful.

Northeastern Support Resources: WISE

When asked who her champion/mentor has been through her journey, Sari Finn (College of Engineering, 2024), the Co-president of WISE,  (The Women’s Interdisciplinary Society of Entrepreneurship) immediately came to mind.

“I met Sari in the Spring because I went through the WeLaunch venture accelerator (actually for a different project) but she became a [key resource for me] and my personal development, so I thank her for all she has done!” explains Christofilis.

WISE is a student-led organization dedicated to encouraging women and underrepresented genders to develop an innovative mindset. Using a variety of resources including interactive workshops, a thought incubator, mentorship pairings, and a venture catalyst, WISE has offered many resources to Christofilis and The Ladyboss Podcast. WISE is a Mosaic organization that contributes to Northeastern’s community of builders, leaders, and student-led organizations.

When asked to share her biggest learning from creating this venture, Christofilis responded, “Be patient with yourself. Remember to create balance in your life to allow for creativity and put yourself out there, however scary it may be. The people you meet will help push you to become better and will open doors to opportunities that may have not existed otherwise.”

Recently, Christofilis hosted a live podcast at Boston Startup Week. She credits The Huntington News and WISE for being the biggest support systems that Northeastern has been able to offer her.

Aside from her dedication to the podcast, Christofilis coaches a soccer team of first- and second-graders in Boston’s South End, finding much joy in her favorite pastime.
